Arsenal Shot Mapper
This page holds stats for shots for and against Arsenal in each of their Premier League matches this season. I also will provide a bit of context as to how the statistics relate to the results. xG stands for expected goals, or likelihood (from 0.01 to 0.99) that a shot would be a goal. xG on my chart serves as a summation of all xGs from each shot.

All of these graphics were produced by me alone, sourcing my data from Understat. The design of the graphics were inspired by the work of The Athletic.
Week 7: Arsenal vs. Southampton
Arsenal 3 - 1 Southampton

After going down 0-1 after 54 minutes of struggling, it felt dire, and the team felt better. Arsenal was piling the shots onto Ramsdale, which still hurts to see in a different jersey. He looked clean, but the artillery broke through, and left a gaping hole.

Week 6: Arsenal vs. Leicester
Arsenal 4 - 2 Leicester City

This was exactly what Arsenal needed coming off the devastating draw to City. Leicester's keeper almost spoiled their afternoon, as well as a period of weakness from Arsenal, but they came through to win cleanly and push forward stronger.

Week 5: Arsenal @ Man City
Arsenal 2 - 2 Manchester City

The statistics of this game are wild. Arsenal's red card in the 53rd minute of the first half (wow) set up City for a strong second half. Arsenal being up 2-1 at half saved them today. a 98th minute goal from John Stones tied it up. What's up with these long halves? 16 minutes of extra time is unheard of.

Week 4: Arsenal @ Tottenham
Arsenal 1 - 0 Tottenham

This match was difficult for Arsenal, being down their best midfielder. While being outshot, their defense held Tottenham to no quality opportunities, and a solid set piece helped push Arsenal over the line to get a strong win here.

Week 3: Arsenal vs. Brighton
Arsenal 1 - 1 Brighton

This game was a quality battle of which the xG favored Arsenal but the shots favored Brighton. Being outshot like this came from an early red card to Declan Rice, but Arsenal was able to hold their ground to secure a draw in this tight battle.

Week 2: Arsenal @ Aston Villa
Arsenal 2 - 0 Aston Villa

This match was a very high quality contest on both sides, with Aston Villa outshooting Arsenal, but Arsenal having more quality opportunities. With the xG being almost even, this game came down to a battle of the keepers, and David Raya shined.

Week 1: Arsenal vs. Wolverhampton
Arsenal 2 - 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

This match was quite one sided in terms of shots and quality of opportunities. Arsenal had 2x the shots Wolves had, and their quality of shot was 1.5x that of Wolves, allowing for a dominant victory to start the season.
